How to Get Rid of Puffy Eyes


Do you have frequent problem of baggy eyes and you just do not know how to get rid of it? Well, with various homemade remedies you cannot only get relief from baggy eyes, but can also make your eyes look bright, fresh, and invigorating. Usually puffy eyes are caused due to lack of sleep, excessive consumption of salt, hereditary or allergy to dust, mite and smoke.

Furthermore, using contact lenses without proper cleaning can also make your eyes vulnerable to eye infection and puffiness.  Eye puffiness is a kind of liquid formation around your eyes that tend to make your eyes look baggy.

Here are some effective remedies that can help you in reducing puffy eyes.


If you suffer from baggy eyes, make sure that you apply cucumber juice on your eyes and let it remain there for 15-20 minutes before washing it off with cold water. Cucumber slices can also be placed on your eyes to soothe them and remove all the signs of puffiness. Cucumber has vitamin E which helps in tranquilizing and cooling the effects caused by fatigue and stress.

Green Tea bags:

Of late, you must have heard various advantages of consuming green tea; however, you can also keep green tea bag on your tired and puffy eyes to get relief. Refrigerate green tea bag for at least an hour until it becomes cold enough to cool your eyes effectively. In fact, this also helps in reducing dark under eye circle.

Egg white with olive oil:

Beat one egg and take the egg white out in a bowl, mix thoroughly two teaspoon of olive oil into it and apply this on the area around your eyes. Wait for 10-15 minutes and later wash off using cold water; however, ensure that you do not keep this eye mask for long time.

Cold Apple slices:

So far you must have heard and read that apple is good for your health, but very few people actually know that slice of apple can soothe your eyes as well. Cut cold apple into 1/8 “disc and place it on your eyes for 10-15 minutes.

Other recommendation:

Control your salt intake. Drink eight to ten glasses of water. Munch on fruits like cranberries, grapes and bananas, which would help your body in alleviating the fluid retention. Massage area around your eyes gently with almond oil before you go to bed and keep puffy eyes at bay.
