How To Deal With Failures In Life
July 21, 2008
Sometimes life hits us on the head, but that doesn’t mean we must lose faith. Failure is a fact of life and it teaches us many valuable lessons. Learn how to deal with failure, don’t be afraid of it, simply deal with the outcome of failure and put it down as a life lesson we all have to come to terms with. It is quite obvious that if people are given the freedom to innovate, the freedom to experiment, the freedom to succeed, then the freedom to fail must also be allowed them.
Failure should be viewed positively instead of in a negative light, as it provides a great learning opportunity and is the very lifeblood of success. As Abraham Lincoln said what matters more than having failed is whether we have faced failure bravely and learnt from it. Human life is all about failing before one succeeds. . To taste the sweet joy of success, one first has to experience the bitterness of failure, struggle to generate success.
Great teachers, both failure and success impart life lessons that endure, even as they teach us to face ups and downs of life courageously. The predecessor of success, however, not every failure indicates future success. Facing persistent failure in one venture could be a lesson, in that it is not for you, time to change tacks. However, not everyone fails before succeeding. There those whom Fortune smiles and whose every step is dogged with success. However, instead of envying them, why not let the mistakes we make become learning tools and stepping stones to success.
We should refuse to let the fear of failure paralyse us from taking on new challenges in life. We must refuse to stop failure from preventing us from stepping our of our comfort zone. We should learn from past mistakes, from other’s mistakes, from history to avoid courting failure by repeating the same mistakes over again. Instead, of being haunted and broken down by failure, we should let it develop our backbone, embolden us to face the harsh realities of life without flinching. The key to surviving failure is to develop resilience.
The best way to handle adversities of life is to move on and strive for success. The ability to handle failure well shows how mature we are and how strong of character. Often, failure is nothing but success in masquerading to test your mettle and whether you could handle success is it came to you suddenly. For many, it becomes the beginning of innovative, path breaking and significant success. Without failure, how else would one savour success and fortune when it favours you. Succeeding after failing time and again, makes subsequent success and achievement so sweet, the blood, sweat and toil seem worth the while!
Everyone wishes for success and there is no one who purposely sets out to be a failure. Theodore Roosevelt rightly said: “The only man who never makes a mistake is the man who never does anything.” One of the ugly simple realities of life, there is no one who has never experienced failure. Thus, the ability to handle failure in its various forms and degrees is a vital part of life and a sign of maturity and moral strength! Face up to it and take it in your stride!
