How to Cure Stretch Marks
Stretch marks happen for many different reasons. Some of which are pregnancy, weight lifting and of course the gaining and losing of weight on a constant basis. The cause of this is when the skin is stretched beyond its capacity at a fast rate and the skin tries to compensate with too much collagen.
The scars that stretch marks cause are permanent and start out as a pink, purple or red mark. Eventually, they turn into a line that is silver and could be indented. For pregnant women, they can not only develop these on their stomach area but the breasts, tush, hips and thighs as well.
The part of the skin that causes the stretch marks is the dermis. When it is overstretched too quickly, the stretch marks appear. There are a few remedies that you can follow to try and prevent stretch marks from popping up out of nowhere.
One way is to stay in shape. Eating healthy and exercising will help you to stay in shape and avoid gaining excess weight. The nutrition of the food you eat is also a great factor. If you are pregnant, a bra that is supportive is very important. This can help to prevent stretch marks on your breasts. Also, if you use lotions on your body, use ones that have the ingredients of centella asiatica extract, vitamin E and collagen elastin hydrolysates.
The only way to be rid of stretch marks once you get them is a surgical procedure called microdermabrasion. You can wait to see if the stretch marks fade away by themselves if they are not that serious. You can also try creams to reduce them with retinoic acid or Retin-A as the ingredients. If you are pregnant and or nursing, it is best to wait till the breastfeeding is complete.
If you feel that your stretch marks are an issue, seek out the advice of a dermatologist. They will be able to advise you on the best course of treatment that you should pursue. Remember, try to take care of your skin from the start to try and avoid getting them in the first place.
