How To Care For Your Hair In Summer
Take care of your hair in summer and you won’t have to spend fall or winter working to repair it. While, summer conjures up glorious visions of natural highlights and windblown hair, the truth is that a hot summer sun and humidity damage the hair cuticle leading to dry, drab, split, brittle or frizzy hair.
As damaging as a hot blow dryer, naturally curly hair is a major victim of summer frizzies. However, there are a number of great summer hair care tips, such as:
Applying a rinse out hair conditioner for moisture and shire prevents static electricity. A ‘leave-in’ conditioner works better for fine or thin hair. Phyto 7 & 9 are great leave in products and can be applied by rubbing some in your hands and then distributing it throughout your hair. Add moisture back to hair dried out by the sun by applying replenishment hair products that are designed to add body, as well.
Give your hair a break from hot hair tools e.g. blow dryers, hot irons, electric curlers, etc. During the summer let your hair dry naturally. If, you want beautiful waves, simply braid hair when wet and air dry.
Condition sun damaged hair with hair care products or apply Jojoba oil to ends of hair to soften them. Jojoba oil also puts an end to frizzy hair. Jojoba oil can be used either as a pre-shampoo treatment or to protect dry strands when out in the sun. Apply deep conditioner to hair, cover with a shower cap and go to sleep, leaving on over night for extra conditioning treatment.
Always, cover hair with a hat when out in the sun. If, you can’t do without a blow dryer, leave in conditioner that is specially formulated to protect hair when blow-drying. Prevent potential frizzies by wearing hair up in a knot, bun or braids.
Treat hair gently in summers by using more moisturizing and overall gentle shampoos. Switch to natural hair products that are devoid of harmful chemicals.
