How much weight should I gain with twins
When you are expecting twins you may be faced with confusion whether you are supposed to eat more and you should double your food intake or not. But it is always better to follow your own appetite than to intake a fixed amount of food every day. How much weight one should gain also depends on many factors such as the body type, height, and pre-pregnancy weight of the mother.
The weight gained during pregnancy is different for each person, but usually a woman gains almost 11-15 kg and in the case of twins, the weight gain can be 16-20 kg. It is important to monitor the weight through regular check-ups and scans and to check the baby’s growth. Weight gain is especially essential between the 20th and 24th week of pregnancy. It is also important that for passing the proper nutrient to the babies through the placenta, proper weight is observed.
You should always take of the hygiene and nutrition while eating something. The food should be healthy and fresh consisting of fresh vegetables and fruits. You can consume dairy products such as cheese, milk, yogurt, smoothies etc., food rich in protein like chicken, meat or fish and starchy wholegrain foods such as cereal and bread. If you don’t eat properly during pregnancy, it can result in weakness and dizziness and can also be bad for baby’s health. Hence, it is very essential that proper heed is given to the diet.
Since the opinions on weight gain vary for different cases, it is important that one consults the doctor and go for regular check-ups. If the weight gain is proper and there is ample supply of healthy nutrition, many contingencies including the premature birth and labor can be avoided.
