How About Going On A Picnic
July 23, 2008
Its vacation time and the children are getting under foot, bored and with little to do, why not raise their spirits by going on a picnic? If, you don’t wish to go far from home, as any little kid will tell you, one doesn’t have to go far for a great picnic. Slap together a few sandwiches, spread out a blanket on the lawn and you can have a very special lunch in your own backyard, even if it is just peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. One doesn’t have to invite a whole bunch of friends, fill a cooler with salads and drinks and find a suitable venue for a picnic. In the spirit of simplicity, you can make your backyard the perfect place to host a picnic for two, or loads of friends and family.
Or else, why not go on a romantic picnic if you are just starting out on a relationship with that special someone you met recently. But, before issuing the invitation, why not browse through information that will help and show you how to plan a picnic. The following picnic tips should prove helpful on putting together a perfect picnic that has all the elements of romance, fun, adventure and oodles of sunshine and the great outdoors.
Begin by picking a venue that has a great view, is in a quiet, secluded spot and where you won’t be bothered by a herd of cows, mosquitoes and midges, even a bunch of fruit pickers. Look for a hidden recess that offers easy on the eye panoramic views, close to a running stream, the sound of which will lull you to sleep after that very special lunch.
Put together some essential picnic essentials like a waterproof blanket, a cosy rug and perhaps some pretty cushions. It is advisable to pack an umbrella as well, preferably a large, golfing one. Not only will it provide shade if the sun proves too hot, it will also protect you in case of inclement weather!
Picnic food is as important, keep things simple, dainty and tasty. The food should look attractive and should be more about special nibbles than a chomping down great meal. Champagne on a picnic lends that special touch and if champagne you must have, make it in proper champagne flutes not plastic cups, and of course with linen napkins. If, the weather’s somewhat chilly, a steaming flask of soup and fresh baguettes stuffed with figs, blue cheese and honey makes for an ideal meal. Foil wrapped sausages (to keep them warm) dipped in spicy salsa will keep the fires burning on any cold day! Bread, cheese and olives, crudités and a vegetable dip or two, wine, cheese and fruit is picnic food at its indulgent best. Or else, freshly baked bread with pâté, thinly sliced prosciutto or Parma ham, sliced sausage, prawns, smoked salmon, anchovy fillets, what more could one ask for!
But, there’s more, as a last temptation, how about some peppermint creams, or a bar of luxury chocolate, or a piece of runny Brie or nutty Manchego cheese with a crisp apple or pear, or a handful of bright red cherries, or chocolate or cheese cake decorated with nuts and rose petals, or biscuits with voluptuous, creamy deserts or strawberries dipped in chocolate sauce. And, for the tea addicts, finish off with a classic cup of tea.
Whether, you picnic in a boat or under a full moon, you have all the picnic essentials that make for a perfect picnic! So, how about going on a picnic?
