Home Remedies For Suntan, Sunburn And Sun Poisoning

Skin is a sensitive organ and everyday it is exposed to things that are hazardous to it. Apart from chemicals and pollution, what harms the skin most is the sun. Heat and the ultra violet rays can damage the skin. Since staying at home is not an option, your skin needs proper care. And if you have sun burn, tan or poisoning, then you need to know the remedies for the problems.
One effective remedy for sun burn and poisoning is to apply either Aloe Vera juice or gel. This reduces redness, pain and itchiness. Apple cider vinegar is a good remedy for sunburn. You can also use cod liver oil as a sunburn remedy.
In case if you do not wish to use any of them, then just put a wet towel on the affected area. You will feel much better. But make sure you wash the affected area with an anti-bacterial soap everyday. That will prevent further infection.
Milk is a magic potion for sunburn and sun poison. Apply whole milk (cool) on your skin. Keep it for 20 minutes and then wash it off with cold water.
Apart from these, there are other homemade remedies for sunburn. Mix some milk with grated cucumber and apply that to the sunburn areas. Juice of a potato is also very effective. Grate some potatoes and take the juice.
If you do not prefer these remedies, then there are more. Mix honey, hazel and one egg white. Mix them well and apply it on your skin. Keep it on for 5-10 minutes then rinse with cool water. Another effective remedy is calamine lotion. Another good remedy is onion. Apply onion on the burn areas for relief. But if the smell of onion bothers you then apply sliced cucumber instead of onions.
Mix at least 20 drops of chamomile and lavender oil to your bath water. Those will sooth your skin.
Last but not least, apply sun block and sunscreen before you go out. That will protect your skin. Also use an umbrella if necessary. If you want to get a tan, use tanning lotions instead of getting one directly from the sun.
