Adolescence with hormones gone berserk, brings a whole lot of woes in its wake. The best of teen years for the not so genetically blessed are marred with acne, pimples, blackheads, scarring and worse. While, prevention is better than cure, how does one combat out of control hormones. Fortunately, there are many home remedies and natural treatments that are useful in getting rid of acne and acne scars.
While, these natural treatments and acne and blackhead home remedies work well for many, there are chances though limited that they may not work as well for others. Why these home remedies work is because they are rich in supplements of vitamins and minerals, and drinking a lot of water is part of them. Everyone knows drinking water helps get rid of toxins from the system and also prevents a number of skin problems. Exercising regularly is also part of the routine as aerobic exercise brings oxygen to the cells, imparting a healthy glow to the skin.

Applying toothpaste (not gel) on pimples before going to bed, helps reduce the swelling overnight.
Washing the face twice a day with warm, salt water leaves the face oil free, without aggravating the acne.
A paste of fresh methi (fenugreek) leaves applied over the face every night for 10-15 minutes and washed off with warm water prevents acne, pimples, blackheads, and wrinkles.
Alkaline strawberry leaves placed on acne helps reduce the swelling.
Juice of one lemon mixed with an equal quantity of rose water and applied to the face before washing off after half an hour, helps cure acne and pimples, including reducing scars and blemishes.
Massaging face with lemon skin before washing with lukewarm water, also proves helpful.
Fresh mint juice applied to the face every night is an effective treatment for acne, pimples, insect stings, eczema, scabies, and other skin infections.
Acne home remedies recommend a healthy diet of plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, at least five servings.
One of the smellier home remedies for acne and pimples is crushing and dabbing a couple of garlic cloves to the face once or twice a day.
Some excellent home washes for acne include mixing together one or two mls each of witch hazel, tea-tree and sweet fennel essential oils. Add essential oil of geranium for women and essential oil of rosewood for men. Mix with 300-mls of water. Before using shake well as oils will float on top of water when stores. Affected areas should be dabbed with this mixture twice or thrice a day.
Add two to three teaspoons of dried basil leaves to one cup of boiling water and steep for 10-20 minutes. Cool, and apply with cotton ball. Ground orange peel paste applied to affected parts is one of the best acne home remedies, as is cleaning the face with cotton wool dipped in rose water 2-3 times a day. One teaspoon of lemon juice mixed in one teaspoon of finely ground cinnamon powder and applied on affected areas frequently works wonders. Drinking four cups of Nettle Tea works wonders for skin problems. Aloe Vera juice applied twice a day greatly speeds up the healing process of acne lesions.
Some herbal acne home remedies… Burdock leaf tea, lavender essential oil (mix 1:10 with water), tincture of calendula flowers, tea tree essential oil (mix 1:10 with water), liquefy cabbage leaves with witch hazel, strain and add two drops of lemon oil to make a lotion. Mix mint juice with turmeric powder and apply on affected area for 15-30 minutes, then wash off with lukewarm water. Mix some vinegar and salt in a bowl rub on pimples. Mix sandalwood paste with rosewater and apply on the face. Rinse off after 30 minutes.
