The answer to keep our body healthy is around us, in the food that we eat. You do not need to look further than your nearest supermarket to find the cure. Read on to find out how you can maintain great skin, heart, bones, and much more.
Way to a beautiful skin
While skin is the largest organ in our body, it is also the one that is the most exposed to the environment and undergoes regular wear and tear.
Vitamin C keeps the skin healthy by increasing oxygen flow to it. It also protects the skin from infection and cancer. A small papaya, medium-sized orange or a grapefruit are great sources of Vitamin C.
Keep your heart healthy
Heart diseases are ace in causing deaths in North America. Eating Omega 3 essential fatty acids will reduce the risk of heart disease by reducing the bad cholesterol (LDL) levels and blood pressure. Fish like salmon, mackerel or sardines are rich in these nutrients. 3-6 ounces per week should do you good.
Boron is for bones
You are not wrong when you think of calcium every time you think of bones. However, besides calcium, you need phosphate, vitamins A, C and D and boron. You can have broccoli, peas, grapes, pears and apples to keep your bones strong. Cheese, sardines and salmon also help.
Copper equals strong joints
Arthritis is no longer limited to senior citizens. Copper helps the proper functioning of an enzyme that strengthens bones and joints. Organ meats like beef liver, oysters, nuts and seeds will ensure strong joints.
Zinc is the thing for your thing
You want to be able to do it forever. Well then, you will need zinc, which affects the male hormone metabolism, sperm formation and sperm motility. Oysters, lean beef, chicken and lamb will keep you going.
Carrots for eyes
Eyes are the lamp of the body and also a symbol of beauty. Therefore, keep them healthy with carrots. They have beta-carotene, which gets converted into vitamin A. This is an anti-oxidant that prevents free radicals and hence, cancer. It also protects against cataract. If you do not like carrots, go for sweet potatoes, yams, broccoli and leafy green vegetables.
Milk and almonds for a beautiful smile
Brush and floss daily to keep your teeth clean and healthy. You can maintain their health by taking some calcium, which will make them strong and disease free. Have a cup of milk and almonds or two cups of white beans to have great teeth.
Amino acids are the answer for your hair
Non-essential amino acids are essential for hair growth and repair. They produce alpha-keratin and it keeps hair healthy whereas methionine prevents hair disorders. Protein-rich foods like chicken, turkey, beef, eggs, cheese and nuts keep hair healthy.
Great body, great life
Now that you’re equipped with all these suggestions about keeping your body healthy, take good care of it.
