Healthy Diet to Prevent Breast Cancer

Good and balanced diet plays an important role in keeping us fit and healthy. There are many food groups with carcinogenic chemicals which can increase the risk of breast cancer while other food groups have chemicals which prevent the occurrence of breast cancer. It is very important to have the complete and accurate knowledge to avoid dangerous diseases like breast cancer.

If you want to prevent breast cancer stay away from alcohol. Many research studies have concluded that alcohol is a known human carcinogen and even drinking in moderation like one glass of alcohol a day can increase the chances of breast cancer by 6% while two glasses of alcohol daily can increase the risk of breast cancer by an astounding 43%. So it is imperative for women to stay away from alcohol. If you have heard about the benefits of red wine and want those health benefits than remember that red wine is made of deep purple grapes so drinking grape juice would provide you all the benefits associated with red wine without giving you breast cancer.

The other important and controversial topic is whether to have vegetarian diet or a non vegetarian one. The good news is that you can have any diet provided you know which foods to avoid. It has been proved that animal products have high content of fat, hormones and proteins which increases the risk of cancer but if you know the correct way of eating meat, than you can not only avoid these risks but also get other health benefits too.

Avoid red meat and instead go for poultry and fish. Fish have vitamin D and vitamin A and omega 3 fats. These help to prevent cancer. So you can include plenty of fish in your diet. Research studies have found out that eating shellfish or salmon daily can cut the chances of breast cancer by 26%. It is better to grill or stew your meat rather than fry it.

Vegetarian diet has lot of food groups which play an important role in preventing breast cancer. Vegetarian diets are low in fats and calories, have no cholesterol and lots of fiber and complex carbohydrates. Listed below are some of the foods which can prevent breast cancer:

· Fruits and vegetables have lots of carotenoids which can prevent breast cancer. Broccoli has sulforaphane which helps to fight cancer cells. Spinach has lutein and betacarotene, chemicals helping to prevent breast cancer.

· Women should cut their daily fats intake to around 20%. Substitute bad fat groups like animal fats, pastries, margarines, biscuits and vcakes with good fat groups like cottage cheese, yoghurt, avocado, olive oil, canola oils, walnuts and rapeseed.

· Garlic and soybeans have been found to fight tumors and breast cancer cells. Whole grains contains lignans , selenium and vitamin E which can prevent chances of breast cancer. Green tea contains catechins which have antioxidant properties and help avoid breast cancer.

· Consume starchy foods in place of sugary and processed foods. Turmeric and curry powder contains curcumin which helps to fight breast cancer.
