Healthy Beautiful Nails

We don’t all have time to make a trip to see our local manicurist every 2 weeks. With tap lessons and basketball practice we need a little free time. In between you at home manicures, follow these 7 simple steps to keep your nails beautiful.

Get in Shape

You want to use a clipper that is straight edged and trim your nails. Remove the rough edges by filing and buffing so that they are soft and smooth. Don’t forget to shape them whether you like them round or square.

Treat your cuticle right. Soak your fingertips for up to 5 minutes in warm water and add little essential oils. Trace your nails with cuticle oil and using an orange stick to push your cuticles back.

Relax your hands with a good massage using your favourite lotion. One with shea butter or avocado will keep your hands looking young and beautiful.

You then want to take a q-tip or cotton ball and wipe away the lotion from your nails with remover. This will remove the oils so that the polish can adhere to your nails. Put the base coat on when dry.

Have your favourite shade ready and apply 2 thin layers of nail polish. Don’t forget to give the tips of your nails a little extra to prevent the polish from chipping too easily.

Add a top coat of clear polish to seal the deal. This will give your nails a beautiful shine and help your color last longer. If you are going out and are in a hurry, then you can use a setting spray to set the color quicker.

In order to maintain your manicure in between changes, treat your cuticles to a daily massage with a formula that will give them nourishment. You can also add a top coat of clear in the middle of the week to help prevent cracks.

Following these few short simple steps will ensure you to have the beautiful manicured look all week long. With our hectic schedules today, this will give you a little more time for you.
