Today everyone is a busybody. Thanks to the workload and the busy schedules, people do not have much chance to take the time to relax. Of course, there are the weekends, but most of the time people are occupied with household work. And if there is time, then we are too busy to do anything for ourselves.
So what is it you can do for yourself on a weekend? Stay home and relax? Stay in bed the whole day? Or better yet walk into a spa and get an amazing massage. That is one of the best ways to spend your weekends and that is also one of the nicest thing you will be doing for yourself.
The history of massage goes long way back. Many ancient civilizations have mentioned massage in their writings. Some of these civilizations are the Greek civilization, the Roman civilization, the Egyptian civilization and many more.
So what is massage? It is a way of manipulating soft tissues of the body. This is considered as one of the oldest ways to heal the body. Some of the most popular massages are the aromatherapy massage, the hot stone massage, the Swedish massage, and many more.
Hot stone massage is a unique one, as it requires stones. For this massage, smooth stones are used. The stones are heated and then they are kept on a particular area or muscle of the body.
Stones of different shapes and sizes are used for this purpose. The heat that comes out from the stones makes the muscles relax and at the same time, it increases the blood circulation of the body.
It also calms the nervous system. Usually people get this massage for sheer relaxation. But people who have back pain, insomnia, or depression should opt for this massage. It is really helpful for these conditions.
In aromatherapy massage, different types of essential oils are used. This is one of the most popular massages. It is believed that the skin can actually absorb the essential oils.
Here it should be mentioned that all these oils have their distinctive scent. When you inhale the scent, it affects your internal body. And different oils have different purpose. Chamomile, lavender, and geranium keeps you calm, rosemary does the cleansing and energizing.
Swedish massage is also a very popular massage. This massage also requires oils. Usually firm but gentle pressure is used to make the muscles more relaxed.
