Hairstyles That Compliment Your Face Structure
June 4, 2008
You should choose the right hairstyle to match your face shape as it can make all the difference between a successful style and a disaster. There are many shapes of faces like oval, round, triangle, square, oblong, diamond, round and heart, long and oval and many other combinations. It is important to find out your face shape and then choose the hair style which suits your face-structure. Given below are the most common shapes of faces and the styles which would bring out the best in you:
Oval Face: If you have oval face, you are lucky as every style whether long or short will suit your face and you will look amazing in it. The chin and forehead are in perfect proportion so you can wear short hair and very modern styles or long, sleek, romantic hair.
Round Face: the best hair style for you is long hair with loose waves. Long hair will make your face appear elongated and wavy hair would create a beautiful effect. You should wear hairstyles which would give fullness and height at the top of the head and reduces hair width by keeping it flat at the sides and also around the ears. You should avoid round styles and fringes and sweep the fringes to the side with a side parting.
Triangle face: The best haircut style for your face is Shags and Wedge or chin length longer cuts. You should tuck hair behind your ears as it would increase width of your face and draw attention to your eyes. You should avoid full and long hairstyles.
Square Face: You should wear bangs, side parts and other haircuts which would place more emphasis on your cheekbones and gives a softer look to your appearance. You should wear your hair coming forward. You can also sport a bob cut hairstyle. You should stay away from long and straight styles which accentuates your jawbone. Bangs should be swept sideways or cropped. You can sport a parting starting at the back of your head in the middle and then goes wider at an angle closer to the front.
Oblong Face: You should wear hairstyles which would create fullness at the sides. Curls, side parts, outward flips, short and soft bangs, layers and fringes around the face would create the desired effect and make your face appear soft and short.
Diamond Face: Just like oval face your face can also sport any style. You can experiment with curls, fringes and chin-length bobs. Bangs, pixie style, shoulder length cuts with feathered edges or short hair with a lot of hair on top would look great on you.
