All people at some point see a hairstyle in a magazine or on a celebrity and want to try it without considering whether or not it will suit their face. It is important to be aware of your face type and choose a hairstyle that enhances your looks.
Longer Faces: A short hair cut looks good on people with a longer face as it reduces the length of their face. A short haircut that is angled at the chin is the best option for this type of face. A layered cut should be avoided at all costs as it makes the face seem endlessly long.
Heart Shaped: This is a lovely facial shape and a good haircut should emphasize the facial structure. A broad bang should be avoided as it makes the face look like a triangle. If you would like a bang go for a smaller one that suits your facial shape. Hair that is tied up will also look good on a heart shaped face as it draws focus.
Round Faces: For those with a round face a long haircut is recommended as it adds length to the face. Avoid short haircuts, especially a bob, as it makes the face rounder.
A layered haircut with more volume at the top and short layers at the top of the head that extend to the back of the head looks good on those with a round face. A ponytail or braid makes the face look rounder and should be avoided.
Oval Shaped: Those with an oval shaped face can wear any type of hairstyle. Short hair with bangs looks great on an oval face. Longer hair might make your face look longer and should be avoided.
Square Faces: A square shape is one where the jaw and chin are wide and give the face a square shape. The goal should be to shift attention away from the chin area and it is for this reason that a short haircut is not recommended. A straight cut at shoulder length is perfect for those with a square face. Fringes and bangs make the face look even squarer.
