Who hasn’t thought snacking added up the calories and absolutely taboo when watching one’s weight. But, research has come out with some good news most of us have been waiting for. It has been proved without a doubt that snacking can be good for you, as it certainly affects your mood most positively.
Kellogg’s, America’s favourite brand of breakfast food, has bee examining the eating habits of its consumers in order to gain a better understanding of how its products can fit into the busy lives of its consumers. Even as, the company’s latest research shows an occasional snack is beneficial for one’s emotional health, there are those who continue to fight the urge to nibble, refusing to believe that snacking is good for the health, and snack denial is in the best interests of their waistlines.
The survey stresses what many of us have noticed, one feels angry and has volatile mood swings when our hunger pangs are not satiated. It was found that 59% of women and 41% of men who denied themselves a snack tended to veer towards anger and aggression. Refusing to snack when hungry has also been shown to affect concentration levels and induce increased lethargy.
People who are on a diet and trying to lose weight, unnecessarily attach unhealthy guilt to snacking, even as 55% of women who indulged in a snack felt a deep sense of emotional relief, after.
This drives home the point that one must find a a happy balance between healthy eating and emotional comfort, but women on a diet have the perfect snack solution in the many mini-break products that can be found on the market today.
With the realization hitting home that snacking can be part of balanced diet, one can indulge in sensible snacking during the day, to avoid reaching for a far more indulgent choice, or eating far too much at meal times.
So, nibble when the urge strikes you, only be careful by watching what you snack on, otherwise you could end up feeling lousy as the pounds pack up due to excessive lunch and dinner time eating. As well, if snack you must, choose your snacks carefully, studying their calorie content and nutrition value. There are plenty of good choices, such as, fruits and raw veggies that not only contain vitamins, minerals, but also fibre to fill you up! Happy snacking, for a more laid back you! No aggression, no temper, everyone will wonder at the nice and sweet you!
