Of all the fashion invention, a survey finds that the bust-enhancing Wonder bra tops, beating boot-cut jeans into second place. Nothing has captured the imagination as Eva Herzigova’s classic advert for this push-up bra. There is no doubt that push-up bras are a wardrobe staple for zillions of women over the world, and that Wonderbra has revolutionized women’s lingerie remaining a best-seller to date. With a magical ability to enhance busts, it has found a place in women’s lingerie drawers, nabbing the title ‘Greatest Fashion Invention Ever’. Ever since the introduction of this cleavage-enhancing bra, women the world over have been proudly flaunting their assets, as too with breast-enlarging ‘chicken fillets’ (or silicone gel inserts) due to their ability to make mountains out of molehills!
There have been many other fashion inventions , such as, figure slenderising pull-in panties (also known as magic knickers, body shapers or figure forming underwear) designed to flatten a woman’s stomach and give a slimmer silhouette, leg lengthening, ankle slimming stiletto heels – a weapon against the opposite sex, so popular in the 1950s and staple favourites even today.
Then there is the classic Little Black dress made famous by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, while the revolutionary mini skirt may have come and gone as hemlines rose and fell, but as far as men are concerned it is the greatest fashion invention ever! As one wit writes so tellingly in his blog: “There’s nothing better than sitting on the patio of a bar, drinking a brewski (or eight) with your buddies, when a lovely woman slowly walks past, her white pleated mini-skirt blowing gently in the breeze. You can’t help but stare. And stare you will.”
Make a list of best fashion inventions and you will always find it headed by the push-up bra followed closely by denim boot cut jeans, pull-in panties, killer stiletto heels, Little Black dresses (LBD), hipster jeans, mini skirts, strapless bras, support tights, kitten heels, stockings, sports bras G-Strings, flip flops, silicone gel implants, pencil skirts, hot pants, boy-shorts, trainer socks and last but not least, comfortable trainers.
The list can go on endlessly about fashion inventions that women can’t do without and men love to see women in, but why not finish off with a salute to Coco Chanel, whose stylish, elegant designs revolutionized fashion in the 1910s, freed women from uncomfortable and stiff apparel worn at the end of the 19th century, Haute Couture that embodies independence, success, personality, style, and confidence.
