There are some people who do nothing at work but get the promotions ahead of everyone with the big pay check that comes with it. This is the kind of people we often don’t want to see in the office but they are painfully there. The lesson we learn from such people is that these people have some tricks that make the boss think they are working hard. You had better learn some of the tricks instead of sitting down complaining.
Send a copy of almost all of your outgoing emails to your boss
Your boss need not read all the emails. Your aim is to let him constantly think you are working. Doing this is a fine way of flaunting work in the face of your boss. The emails may not necessarily be of major significance. It constantly makes him think you are the hard working guy. There are some people who will do just a little a day, but by adopting this strategy they get ahead of those struggling to make it genuinely.
Never leave your notepad
Employers are funny. They usually think that the one scribbling things around is the busiest person and therefore the most productive. Even if you are just drawing the picture of your boss’ girlfriend that eludes the wife all the time, the fact that you carry the notepad puts you ahead of those ‘lazy, unproductive co-workers’ who have none.
Be the first to report office issues to the boss
There are a lot of mediocre employees who have ‘earned’ the position of the main man of the boss simply by being the first to report things to the boss. It could be something simple such as firewall inhibiting sending and receiving emails to and from the administration. You are the one seen as the most concerned about the business.
Act stressed
All bosses believe that the more stressed a worker is the harder and the more he is working. If you appear stressed, the reason follow that you are working hard, so you must be promoted.
Call your boss from the office on your day off
This creates the impression that you are the workaholic. You can go round clubbing and having good time, but make sure you pass by the office to call your boss and he thinks that’s the great guy.
