Being a mom means that you’re always on the lookout for what is best for your family. Eating healthily is one of those everyday things all moms seem to struggle with at some point. Here are some ways that you can keep your family eating and exercising to stay fit.

Exercise can seem like such a chore to kids. Make exercise fun and exciting by doing what interests them. Go for a bike ride, ice-skating or even bowling. This will get them off the couch and being active.

You don’t want to give up too easily when it comes to new foods. Little ones don’t like to eat what smells or looks funny to them but keep trying with healthy foods such as fish and veggies.

Another great idea is to take your children shopping with you. Let them try to read some of the ingredients and it may turn them off unhealthy items. Make certain foods sound great by talking about how wonderful they smell and taste.

You can get kids to be more active by walking  wherever you need to go instead of taking the car. Get a pedometer for everyone to see how many steps they take and make a game out of it.

When trying to get them to eat more fruits, make a game out of them. Play ‘spit the pits’ and see who can get their pits to go the farthest. Packing their school lunches gives you the opportunity to make them something healthy. Use small containers for things such as grapes or a dip for raw veggies. This will keep the lunch box clean and help the environment at the same time.

If you are worrying about the cost of eating healthily, just shop a little more wisely. Purchase certain foods when they are in season. An example of this is fruit. You can purchase fruits when they are in season and then simply freeze some for the winter months. Not only will you get a better buy but you will have fruit all year round.
