End Back Pain Permanently
January 30, 2009
If you have suffered back pain, you will surely know how irritating and nagging it can be. The fact about back pain is that it does come, but it never goes. You can do all you want to but it never leaves. It is a nagging injury, which does nothing but stay and harass you.
You can, however, make some changes in your lifestyle along with your training to say goodbye to this pain forever. Here are some of the things you can do.
Strong ab muscles keep back pain away
If your abdominal muscles are strong, you can prevent as well as heal a back injury. This is because the ab muscles are responsible for holding the whole pelvic girdle in place so that the spine is aligned properly and any odd twists are prevented. However, weak ab muscles will not be able to handle all the different ways you move your body and can also end up curving your spine.
Therefore, take on the task of strengthening your abs and exercise accordingly. This will keep that dreaded back pain and injury away from you.
Keep a proper form during the military press
When you perform this press, keep your lower back straight by contracting your glute muscles. When you hoist the weight over your head, it is common to sway slightly. However, this will cause the overhead weight to pressurise the spinal cord out of alignment. Nevertheless, if your glute muscles are contracted, they will force the spinal cord to remain in alignment. This will curtail any chance of a back injury and will also heal your back pain, if you regularly perform this exercise.
You should measure your leg length periodically
This is a great way to check if your spine is right where it should be, and if it is in alignment or not. If the two legs are not of same length, then see a chiropractor. They will be able to help get your spine back in position. However, be sure whom you are consulting. Consult a professional only because misalignment will cause you more bad than good.
Choose the elliptical trainer instead of the treadmill
If you are having back pain or have had back pain earlier, avoid the treadmill. Instead, go to the elliptical trainer for your cardio workouts. While running is great for overall health, it is hard on the vertebrae, so avoid it.
Get back
Follow these simple guidelines and you will see yourself healed and not get back the back pain.
