In today’s economy, everyone is trying to squeeze the copper out of a penny. It seems that every time we turn around the cost of a product is rising while our salaries seem to stay the same. However, there are ways you can keep a better eye on your money and maybe even put a few of those pennies away.
One safe way to not over spend is to use your cold hard cash instead of a credit card. When you go shopping, take what you can afford to spend and leave the cards at home. This can help to keep you from overspending when you go to the mall or even the grocery store. When you are planning your meals, cut the meat out of dinners a few nights a week. Not only will this save you money but give you an opportunity to eat more veggies.
When the time comes to get a haircut, see if your hair salon is running a special or possibly having a night of training new stylists. Not only will you still get a great cut, but it will cost you less. Another great idea is to pack your lunch for work instead of eating out. Not only will you enjoy your lunch more but the savings can really add up.
You should also hit yard sales and bargain basement deals. There are some great finds at low prices. Credit cards are great for sucking up your money. Because of the competition with these cards, you can often bargain for a new APR and get it lowered. You should also ask if they have any type of reward program.
Another idea is to ask companies for free samples of products. Many of them will send you a free sample and a coupon to purchase another one at a later date. You can also ask to be put on the sample list if the company has one. This is a great way to get a good savings in the future. By doing one or more of these ideas, you will be able to squeeze a little more of the copper out of a penny.
