Doing Away with Split Hair Ends

Split hair ends, also known as Trichoptlosis occurs when hair cuticles get damaged and fiber cortex loosen up. Physical and chemical traumas can be held responsible for split hair ends; however, it’s a problem that can be easily prevented. Getting rid of split hair ends, is necessary, as no hairstyle looks good on the hair with split ends.
How to Get Rid of Split Hair Ends?
The only method to stop the split hair ends is to trim the hair on a regular basis (preferably every 6 weeks) at least 1½-inch up the split hair to stop further splitting. To prevent split ends, a few other steps can be adopted such as using coated/covered rubber bands; wearing a hat/scarf when going outdoors to reduce hair damage due to the sun.
Some other steps to stop split hair ends include sleeping on a satin pillow to minimize tangles, apply de tangle sprays/ conditioners available in the market and get rid of split hair ends. Also brushing the hair before taking a shower is also important.
Other essential steps to avoid split ends include using a natural-bristle brush, instead of metallic combs/brushes; also avoiding hair brushing when its’ wet is most important. Stopping the use of hair dryers, hot curlers, curling irons, crimpers, and straightening irons is also a way to curtail.
If the hair is extremely dry, use a shampoo with ingredients’ such as sunscreen and moisturizing cream. Also using a regular hair conditioner after shampooing, as well as a deep conditioner, once in a month can help to prevent split hair ends.
Use a hair split repair product to reduce the stray hair look. Always remember to wear a swimming cap in a swimming pool to protect the hair from the harmful effects of chlorine and other water chemicals that can cause split ends.
There are several ways to prevent split hair ends. One of them is to use a wide tooth comb while combing the hair.
Allow the hair to dry up naturally, and only use dryer once in a while. Do remember not to brush the hair while its’ still wet as its one of the prime reasons for split hair ends.
Stop the use of curling irons/hair straightening devices. Be cautious while applying hair color as they may have chemicals that can be harmful and can cause split hair ends, and make the hair weak. Also using a variety of hair conditioners during and after a shower is beneficial.
