Skin infection is one of the most common problems that we experience during our life span. Skin infections are of various types. Many of us have experienced the problem of pimples in our body. When a simple pimple becomes complicated, it is known as skin boil.
Skin abscesses is the other name of skin boils. The difference between a pimple and a skin boil is that, the skin boils are the infections that occur deep in the skin whereas pimples just occur on the surface of the skin. Boils are filled with a mixture of white blood cells, proteins and bacteria commonly known as “pus”. Skin boils are red in color; they are tender and are very painful. A skin boil is filled with pus after going through various stages. Once the pus formed, comes to the head of boil, the boil may burst and all the pus comes out or it may be drained surgically. As the bacteria are present in the pus, it causes infection to the adjacent skin also. This causes skin boil that soon turns up in to several boils. Thereafter, it gets worse and takes the form of bigger lump. In this situation if that happens, then it needs immediate medical attention as they are followed by high fever.
The main causes of skin boils are:-
Skin boils are mainly caused because of bacteria that enter the skin through any foreign particle. Boils are also caused because of blocked sweat glands or oil ducts, or due to clogged hair follicles etc.
There are various methods through which we can prevent skin boils:-
If any foreign particle penetrates your skin, just try to remove it with a soft cloth or with tweezers. If you don’t get success in grasping it, then just try pushing the object to the skin surface by squeezing your skin. If still you don’t get relief, then visit the doctor for help. It is important to take care that you should not leave any of the particles under your skin as it can lead to severe infections.
Use fewer cosmetics as they can block your oil glands. For better prevention from pimples and cystic acne, wash your face atleast twice a day with soap or gentle face wash.
Skin boils can be treated at home using hot packs or warm soaks. For better treatment, boils should be treated as early as possible. Applying heat increases blood circulation and help our immune system by producing more white blood cells. As a result, they help in fighting infections more effectively so as to provide great relief.
If home treatment, like hot soaks is not affecting the skin boils it is important that you should consult your doctor in order to find the right cause of your skin boils. By getting proper treatment at proper time, you can get rid of this problem.
