The bad guy in movies, the one who’s a jerk to all the other characters, seems to always end up with the girl in the end. There are also real life examples to bolster this idea; bad boys, from high school through college, always seem to get beautiful girls.
The most common stereotype is that of meatheads and jocks getting goddesses. And yet today’s man is supposed to be above these old fashioned ideals and be more in touch with his feminine side.
This leads to a confusing message for modern men; that they are supposed to be both tough and accessible, the stalwart hero and the sensitive father.
Men who have been told to show their sensitive side to women are confused when they see jerks end up with great partners. Sometimes men who treat their girlfriends rudely, men who never call their partners, always seem to be in a relationship and at times have an even cult-like following of women.
One of the reasons why women are attracted to these bad boy types is because it is intriguing and interesting to them. These types of men are known for doing what they want whenever they want and answering to no one.
Women find this attribute exciting. This also makes bad boys a challenge to hold on to, which can be thrilling. It gives these women a sense of power and accomplishment.
These bad boys also have an unparalleled level of self-confidence. They think and act as if they were kings of the world. Women find this self-assuredness incredibly attractive. To some, confidence matters even more than physical appearance.
This powerful, maverick mind frame and strength of character can be incredibly sexy to women. This aura, more than the actions of the individual, is what attracts women to bad boys over and over again.
That’s not to say that all men should become bad boys. In fact, taking the most intriguing parts of a bad boy’s attitude — things like confidence and spontaneity — and adding them to your own personality can make you just as attractive and sexy as any other man in existence.
Be careful not to take your tough guy act too far. Girls may like to dream about bad boys, but in reality they want a man who will treat them with tenderness and respect.
