Depression
Depression is an emotional disorder. The severity can range from a slight or temporary sorrow to long-term or complete and utter misery. Mental disorders are completely different from physical ones; and are often much more difficult to overcome.
Many different situations and events cause people to become distressed. That, combined with the headaches of everyday life, can weigh heavily on individuals.
The main causes of depression are drug use, alcohol use, major stressful events, everyday activities if stressful, heredity, sickness and disease and using certain medications.
Depression has many symptoms like: Feelings of sadness, a lack of self-confidence, avoidance of others, a sense of loss, fatigue, lack of interest in everyday activities, insomnia or excessive sleep, poor appetite, digestive problems, agitation, irritability, headaches, indecisiveness and feelings of hopelessness.
People suffering from Depression can go for counseling, taking antidepressant drugs, shock therapy or psychotherapy.
Home Remedies for Depression are:
• Asparagus Root – Take 1 to 2 grams of asparagus powder derived from the dry root of the asparagus every day. This should help with mental disorders.
• Cashew nuts – These are rich in vitamin B which stimulates both the nervous system and the appetite.
• Apples – Eat apples with milk and honey to soothe the nerves.
• Spinach – blend ½ cup spinach with carrots. Drink the juice every day to help fight depression and sadness.
• Tea – tea made with peppermint or ginger help with moodiness.
• Ginkgo Biloba – Take 80 mg two to three times each day. This should help reduce depression and stress.
• Omega-3 fatty acids – found in fish oil and walnuts, they are great for your mental health.
• St. John’s Wort – take around 1000 mg per day to control mood swings.
You should take care to get plenty of sleep, stay active and don’t stay home all the time by yourself, avoid using drugs or alcohol, attend group or individual counseling, eat a healthy and balanced diet, start an exercise program, take supplements if your diet is low in vitamins and minerals and make sure you are getting enough calcium, B6, B12, zinc, copper, and iron.
