Dengue Fever

What is the dengue fever and its cause? Dengue fever is an infectious disease caused by one out of the four dengue virus: DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3, and DEN-4 that are transmitted by infected Aedes aegypti mosquito. Although dengue is not contagious from person to person it can spread by the bite of infected mosquito. Mosquitoes became infected after biting the infected person and pass the infection to healthy person they bite.
What are the signs and symptoms of dengue fever? The signs and symptoms of dengue fever includes: a high fever (usually a fever of about 105 degrees Fahrenheit), rashes that covers much of the body, pain behind the eyeballs which disappears after a few days and reappear at a later time, terrible muscle and joint pain and bouts of vomiting and nausea.
The hemorrhagic form of this fever also can cause a great deal of damage to an infected person’s lymph and blood vessels, bruising from bleeding from under the skin, nose and mouth losing a great deal of blood cells that clots the blood and even causing the death of the infected person.
The final stage of this disease, called the dengue shock syndrome, is the most severe form of dengue fever and the symptoms are more severe than the previous two stages. The symptoms of this stage are: blood vessels bursting and leaking of plasma, heavy bleeding and a total and sudden drop in blood pressure.
One form of treatment involves an infected person drinking plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration from having a high fever and vomiting. Also, an infected person can take over-the-counter medications, like Tylenol, to help relieve the symptoms of this dreaded disease. These treatments are only effective if the fever is in its early stages.
For treatments of this illness in its latter stages, hospitalization and more intense treatments are required to treat this illness. These treatments include the use of electrolyte replacements and intravenous fluids.
