Coping with Oily and Dry Skin
May 25, 2009
Skin care is one of the most important aspects of personal grooming. Your skin is the most exposed part of the entire body, which is extremely sensitive in nature. Most of the people, though all are born with normal skin, end up having oily or dry skin. People with normal skin are very few.
Oily skin and dry skin can be problematic in nature. Hence, we need to take care accordingly to ensure that our skin does not suffer. In this article, we talk about how to take care of oily and dry skin.
Handling Oily Skin
Oily skin can be very problematic. People with oily skin are prone to acne and pimples. Dust easily settles on the skin and causes irritation too. Their face shines always due to the oily nature of the skin and gives an appearance like they are always sweating.
People with oily skin should avoid the intake of fatty foods. Oil and saturated fats only aggravate the condition of oily skin. Keep washing your face at regular intervals with a good oil control face wash.
This will impart a glow and freshness to your face. Be cautious and careful while buying beauty products. Do not buy oil based cosmetics. Go for a moisturizer, which your skin can absorb fast.
Honey is a good detoxifying agent. If you have a lot of acne on your face, spread honey evenly over your face and let it stand for five to ten minutes then wash your face. This will help in detoxifying the skin. Did you know that you can reduce the redness of your pimple by applying toothpaste over that area!
Handling Dry Skin
Dry skin also comes with its own set of issues and concerns. People with dry skin can be happy about the fact that their skin is not prone to acne and pimples; however, the bad news is that the skin is prone to dehydration and chapping which is equally bad.
Problems magnify during winter when the dry weather causes your skin to dry even more. Chaps deepen and begin to bleed. Hence, great care must be taken to protect the skin.
First, you need to keep your skin constantly hydrated by drinking lots of water everyday. This will remove the toxins and keep your skin soft and supple. Next, find yourself a good skin moisturizer, which stays on for a long time. Keep applying the moisturizer at regular intervals.
Oatmeal is a very good food for people with dry skin because it helps in removing the dead skin from the body. Also, try cleaning your face with yoghurt before washing your face because it helps in removing the dust settled in the pores of the skin.
