Color therapy – colors make wonders
June 6, 2008
Color or chromatherapy is the practice of treating bodily disharmonies with color and/or light, in the seven primary colors of the rainbow. It is based on the premise that specific colors have healing and restorative properties related to certain areas of the physical or emotional being. Color Therapy is simply the therapy of using colors to heal.
Certainly modalities of using color therapy to heal includes shining color lights on a person, being in a room painted in a particular color, wearing certain colored clothes, imagining colors shining upon you while sitting still with eyes closed, eating fruits and vegetables of certain colors, and wearing the color therapy glasses that was designed to make the use of color therapy convenient and affordable.
Color therapy may employ gemstones, candles, prisms, wands, baths, optical aids, and fabric. Our most important energy source is light, and the entire spectrum of colors is derived from light. Sunlight, which contains all the wavelengths, consists of the entire electromagnetic spectrum that we depend on to exist on this planet.
Light flows through our eyes and triggers hormone production, which influences our entire complex biochemical system. This biochemical system then affects our being. And light does not travel alone. Light travels with other energies as illustrated on the right. Each color vibrates at a specific, individual frequency, as do the glands and organs of the body. Each color corresponds to a specific area of the body. Color vibrates true to frequency. It never deviates, but people deviate.
Light which flows in through the human eye, triggers internal hormone production that controls the complex biochemical system of our bodies. Likewise, light absorbed through exposure to sun or artificial sources, also influences are emotional and physical well-being. Color therapy in some instances, mimics the natural absorption of color from light, to supply what we may be lacking to keep our bodies and minds in balance. The body is constantly being challenged in life, and is always working to maintain balance.
If you wake up in the morning with little energy, or you need to prepare for a business meeting, this is where the power of colors can help. All you have to do is reflect on the type of day you have planned; choose the color that will help you meet the demands of the day; and then absorb that particular color. It’s like fueling your system with the right kind of gas. When we are ill, the body is out of balance; the body is not functioning at its proper frequencies and a key to feeling better is to bring balance back to the area of the body that is the source of the illness.
