Culture can be manifested in a lot of ways: Culture can be manifested through the customs, values, beliefs and/or traditions of a certain group or groups of people. Culture is the life blood of civilization and it makes us unique and different from other people. For example, the traditions and value of The Amish people show their personal and religious beliefs.

Another form of cultural expression is clothing. Yes, people express their beliefs and/or desires through clothing. For example, history buffs dressing up like people who lived during a certain period they admire, like the colonial era and the Revolutionary War. If you wanted to see how people dressed during the colonial era, you should go to historic district Williamsburg, Virginia, where people wear colonial clothing and reenacts the culture, clothing and style of talk of the people of that era.

Cultures are not always set by a geographical area or boundary and for that reason, cultures can change from place to place and the people can change with it. Also cultures can blend as well, taking a part of one culture and mixing it with another culture.

If you want another example, look back in the colonial era and see how people were dressed. In those days, the clothes really did make person, since colonial clothing in that era determined the status of a person or persons. For example, the wealthy men and women wore powdered wigs and finely-made clothing, while the middle class and lay persons wore simpler clothing and hardly any powdered wigs, since they were very expensive to buy and keep up.

The poorer women wore very long and uncomfortable dresses, corsets that were very tight and uncomfortable, and long and cumbersome petticoats, which were heavy to carry around. Of course, men had the more comfortable clothing and usually wore pants what were knee-length, socks that went up to their knees, shirts made of linen and shoes that were heavy.
