Commercially produced in two different ways, coconut oil can be extracted from dried coconut or from fresh coconut. The former is ordinary coconut oil, while the latter is virgin coconut oil that is light, penetrating skin and hair easily and makes for an excellent base oil for lotions, creams, lip balms, etc.
Coconut Pulp For A Youthful Look
After draining the coconut of its water, shred the flesh into a pulp. Use the pulp for a cooling and oil reducing face mask, making sure to apply the pulp to the entire face. Cover the eyes with cucumbers and remove the pulp, rinse after 20 – 30 minutes. The skin on your face will look freshly scrubbed and youthful.
Coconut Cream
Coconut cream is a popular beauty preparation. Use it on the hair and skin in the same way as coconut oil. An excellent treatment for dry skin, it also helps moisturise and nourish brittle nails.
Pre-Bath Massage
A pre-bath massage of the whole body with coconut oil keeps the skin soft, young and supple for years. After bath, just pat yourself dry; don’t rub the skin vigorously with your bath towel, allow your skin to retain a bit of the moisturising effect of the oil.
After Bath Moisturiser
Coconut oil can works as an excellent skin moisturiser if applied immediately after a shower. Sitting on top of the skin, it locks in the moisture, acting as a water sealant. People suffering from skin problems like Keratosis Pilaris, Xerosis and Psoriasis can alleviate the problems of dry, rough, scaly and itchy skin by moisturising regularly with pure coconut oil after their bath.
