Celebrate Womanhood
May 31, 2008
Today’s women of India are a blend of traditional values and contemporary style. Storehouses of incredible force or Shakti, they bring joy and add colour to our lives. Warm, indomitable they are to be respected and cherished. In celebrating the true essence of a woman, we must also honour the quintessential woman of 21st century.
Today, the Indian woman is not confined within the four walls of the homes. She has ventured out to defy all obstacles in her way. Incredibly smart and savvy, despite all odds they are striving to live up to their full potential. No longer content to remain the force behind the throne, they are curious to see the world and want to make a difference.
Able to look within and push the boundaries without, Indian women who are the epitome of feminity, yet, know how to hold her own in a man’s world. Warm and intelligent, they are multi-taskers, who play their role of homemaker, wife, mother, daughter, business woman and professional to perfection. We must celebrate womanhood as India’s woman of today achieves the perfect balance between tradition and modernity, gentleness and strength. Indian womanhood has undergone a transformation, from a meek creature she is now a force to reckon with, helping make the world a better place.
While, states like Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and others, including the Indian Diaspora try to wipe her out, they must be made to realise that women are incredible strong. Her soft and gentle nature must not be misconstrued for weakness, nor her beauty kept hidden. We must celebrate womanhood by giving her the freedom that is so dear to the hearts of each of God’s creatures, treat her with the respect she deserves, recognise her for making her home a heaven on earth.
Let us make a promise never forget what women go through, how they feel, how much they struggle to stand at par. As we celebrate womanhood we should make an effort to appreciate and seek to understand what makes them so very special. Let us honour the spirit of feminism and make everyday a women’s day. Let us appreciate her being herself…. Celebrate womanhood and tell all the women in your life i.e. wife, mother, sister, daughter, just how very special they are!
