Body Pains You Mustn’t Ignore
February 18, 2009
There are some pains that you can ignore and put off; however, some are an indication of something much deeper than superficial hurt.
You should learn to tell the difference between a minor pain and something much more serious, especially if you workout regularly. This way you can keep yourself from being injured.
Here is a list of pains that should call for your attention. However, you should always consult a professional for better and more reliable advice.
Sudden pain in the neck or the head
When you are doing heavy weight squats, and you feel a sudden pain in the head, then you should immediately stop and pay attention to your form. The reason is that behind this sudden pain can be an overloaded blood pressure or some seized muscle, which is finding it difficult to bear the weight’s pressure.
Extreme tenderness in the groin area
You should never ignore this pain; especially if it happens when you are doing dead lifts, heavy squats and lunges. You should stop. This can be anything from a muscle cramp to a pulled muscle.
If the pain appears when you resume your workout, then chances are that the muscle of the inner thigh is pulled or injured.
While it is normal to feel a little bit sore after a strenuous weight lifting, if such a pain continues then you can put an ice pack on the area and even rest for about a week.
Sharp pain in the back
Any type of back pain should never be ignored, especially when it is sharp. Immediately stop because it can be anything, either a slipped disc or even some pinched nerve.
The vertebra is put under a lot of load when you are lifting the weight over your head. Any small adjustment can cause your vertebra to go out of alignment and land you in pain. In case of back pains, it is always advisable to consult a doctor immediately.
Pain in the ankle when you are running
In the process of achieving success, most runners usually do not pay attention to any pain. However, if your ankle pains as if it will give way upon impact, then you should probably listen and stop. You could have sprained your ankle or strained a ligament. If left unnoticed, you can be out for weeks.
Extreme hunger
Some men tend to go the extreme with dieting and muscle building. However, at some point in time, your body will require a break and some rest. At this time, you might feel extremely hungry.
This is the time to stop and rest for a while. This break will help your body recover and when you are back, you will be burning fat faster than ever because your metabolism will be working fine.
That light headed feeling
If you get a lightheaded feeling during your workout, you should not ignore it. If you are rising from bending over then it is normal to some. However, if it happens over and over again, then it might indicate that your blood pressure is low.
Persistent pain in the shin
Constant impact on your tibia bone can cause shin splints. Most often it goes off with some rest, you should seek help.
Ongoing fatigue
If more sleep, diet adjustments and rest don’t work to make you feel better, then you should consult a professional.
