Techniques
It is important to use light oil for hair massage. This ensures that the oil penetrates the head and skin. Commonly used oils are coconut oil, sesame oil, and olive oil.
Oil has to be applied methodically in sections. Finger rotation, kneading techniques can be use to work on all pressure points. It is essential to apply just the right amount of oil. Application of too much oil will lead to drying later on, due to vigorous shampooing.
Other massage ingredients
In addition to coconut oil, olive oil, and sesame oil, some people also use aromatic oils such as lavender oil to ease away stress and tension and to have a relaxing effect. Others use coconut milk to smoothen hair. Aloe Vera masks may also be applied to have a cooling effect and promote shiny, silky hair.
