Being a Single Mother

Earlier, being a single mother meant leading your life alone and secluded as you were treated as an outsider. You could not move about freely in the society. Women did all the activities meant for women as well as men and this resulted in them being treated badly.
As times change so are the views of people. A single mother is part of the society now unlike previously. There is relaxation of rules for single mothers and also tremendous job opportunities. Despite this, there are still some reservations when it comes to single mothers as compared to married mothers.
There may be many reasons why a woman is a single mother. It could be due to divorce, the death of her husband or just living separately. Some women may choose to be single and have adopted children. Whatever the reason they are not seen in a favorable light.
It has evolved considerably over the years but it is still not fully accepted. Even among women there might be discrimination where married mothers form a group and exclude single mothers.
They might even restrict their children or spouses from interacting with them. There are claims that people are lenient and friendly single women but the reality is different.
A mother being single does not imply that she is not interested in men. Just like other women she needs the support and comfort of a companion. Her previous experiences may result in her being wary of men and be extra cautious.
Single mothers tend to be more attentive to their appearance than married mothers. They are hesitant in remarrying as they are concerned about their children’s comfort and welfare.
She is not sure if the man in her life would treat the child with as much importance and whether there would be differentiation once the next child is born.
Single mothers now do not worry too much about the society. They focus on their children’s needs and do anything required to keep their children happy. It is good if they remarry as every child needs a father figure in their lives.
