Summer is here making one forget the bitter cold of winter. Everyone wants to be out doors soaking in the sun or lazing around on the beach. Summer, the ideal time for picnics, bike rides beach volley ball and more. Whether playing sports, walking on the beach, gardening or just lounging in the sun, it is essential to use proper skin protection and beach skin care to avoid sunburn and prevent sun damage.

While, we all love the sun, however, its ultraviolet rays are harmful for human skin and can lead to skin cancer. One must ensure proper skin protection whether out in the sun or on the beach. The following beach beauty tips should give you an idea of how to ensure the best protection for your skin.

A water resistant sunscreen lotion is useful in protecting the skin from the harmful UV rays of the sun. Apply a quality sunscreen to dry skin at least 20-minutes before heading out to the beach. Reapply sunscreen if you have been frolicking or swimming in the salty waters of the ocean or chlorine waters of a swimming pool.

Use a medicated lip protection guard to keep your lips moisturised. There are many good quality lip balms that should help keep your lips soft and smooth for puckering up to a summer romance.

Use a wide brimmed hat to provide shade and protect your hair from sun damage. Protecting hair from the rays of the sun is important when on the beach as sun, sea and sand can have a devastating effect on it. Spray on a protective hair spray made specially for safeguarding hair from the effects of unruly sea breezes.

Beach Skincare Tips

Mid-day sun due to its intensity can prove disastrous for the skin. Therefore, it would be wise to plan beach visits before 10: 00 am and after 4 pm, when the rays of the sun are less intense.

Wear thick cotton clothes to prevent harmful ultraviolet rays penetrating and harming the skin.

Apply water resistant sunscreen lotion at least half and hour before heading to the beach. Reapply after a dip in the sea as these sunscreens stay only for 90-minutes. Experts believe water acts like a lens, letting the sunlight penetrate deeper into the skin. Use heavier sunscreen with Vitamin E and Aloe Vera when indulging in water based sports

Apply sunscreen even when you are under the shade of a beach umbrella, since sun’s rays reflected by beach sands can harm your skin.

Use cocoa butter to re-moisturize the skin and to prevent peeling. Prevent dried sun burnt lips by using medicated lip protection guard with SPF. Water resistant eyeliners, mascaras and bronzers for a sun-kissed look in the water are recommended. Never forget to wear summer sunglasses to protect the eyes against UVA and UVB rays. Wear wide-brimmed hats and keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
