Bangalore is now equipped with all-new airport

He is the happiest person in the world as stated by Albert Brunner, chief executive officer of the Bengaluru International Airport Ltd (BIAL). He happily said that after a successful opening of the new International Airport at Bangalore in the early hours of Friday May 24. The first flight flew its way was a plane from Bangalore to Singapore.
After a series of dissents and court cases, Bangalore, the IT Hub of India, at last got a full-fledged International Airport at Devanahalli that is 31 km away from the city. A security blanket was arranged at the airport all the day for ensuring that the launch should go off smoothly. The first flight to land at the new airport was the Air India IT 609 from Mumbai at 2240 hr.
According to the plans, a Jet Airways flight was to land from Mumbai at 2145 hr, but it had to be rescheduled as the Election Commission’s order that said that no flight could land in the new airport before 0001 hr on Saturday. Nevertheless, a concession was given to the Air India flight that landed, as the same airplane had to leave for Singapore at 1205 hr.
The lead-up to the inaugural function of the new airport was tensed. The day began with several rounds of protests in different corners of the city to keep the old airport (HAL) opened, as the airport is largely believed that this is more convenient in terms of distance as compared to the new International Airport.
