Aquatic plants are well known for their beauty. By growing them in your home surroundings you can easily add charm and peace to your house. Aqua or pond plants give a feeling of calmness and helps in adding oxygen to the pond. They also help in reducing the growth of algae.
There are six kinds of aqua plants; let us take a look at their characteristics and properties:
The first kind of aqua plant are called as water lilies. These plants are generally stronger in nature are rooted firmly in the mud present beneath the pond water. Water lilies generally require deep water to flourish. These aqua plants are famous because of the hardiness, colors and the long thriving season they show. These plants can even flourish at 30 degrees in winter. Some water lilies bear flower in night while other during the day time and their presence can be marked because of the strong fragrance they give out.
The other kinds are of oxygenators. This name is given to these aqua plants because of their property to add oxygen to the pond water. These plants help in keeping the pond clean by absorbing the nutrients from the pond water. These aqua plants are generally submerged plants which generally float underwater without roots.
The other kind is floating plants and they can move from one place to another with the help of wind or water current. These plants ate generally not large and are without roots. They also help in keeping the water clean by absorbing the nutrients. They also help in oxygenating the pond water. These plants generally grow at a much faster rate and can be considered as waterweeds.
The other kind is called as partly emerging. These aqua plants show only a part of their body and the rest part remains submerged in the water. These plants usually grow at the edges of the pond. The plants growing on the ground generally cover it with multicolored leaves and flowers.
The other kind is marginal plants and these aqua plants generally grow in the shallower areas of the pond. Marshy areas are best suitable for them.
The last kind of aqua plant is bog plant and they generally grow in low lying areas. They grow on places where rainwater usually collects for long time. Wet mud is the best place for these plants to flourish. The flowers of this aqua plant are colorful.
