Makeup powder or face powder is one of the most popular and an in vogue product in the cosmetic market today. The prime use for its application is to reduce the glossy appearance of skin due to excessive oil production in facial skin.
Even though of late, glossy makeup has become the latest trend, many still opt for the matt look generated with the use of makeup powder.
There are two types of face powders in the market and in order to make a decision as to which one best suit you, you need to know a couple of facts about these powder form.
Face powder comes in loose form and the pressed form. The choice of beauty experts all over the world is more inclined towards the loose powder form due to its soft and smooth texture and the effect of uniformity it gives to the skin once applied. The tendency for this type of powder to smudge, is also very much less.
Pressed powder on the other hand is manufactured by compressing it under very high pressure to force it to assume the condensed shape of its container, along with the addition of oils to ensure that the powder particles adhere to each other. These aspects involved in its manufacture causes smudging once applied.
Dos and Don’ts in the use of makeup powder
• Avoid using excessive powder on your face as it can give you an embalmed and artificial look. It is more advisable to remove excess facial oils by softly patting it away with an absorbent tissue if the need arises.
• Removal of excess powder can be done by smooth downward strokes with a light makeup brush to prevent brush hair disrupting the natural position of facial hair, especially around lower half of the face.
• Choose a brush over a puff, ensures smoother look with less amount of powder.
• Always shake off excess powder from brush before application in even descending stroke all over the face.
In your choice of face powder, take into consideration the type of your skin too. Combination and oily skin functions well to give a smooth finish with loose powder since excess oils in the skin is easily absorbed by the powder. On the other hand those who have dry or normal skin could use pressed powder which will aid in moisturizing the skin as it is deficient in natural oils.
