Specifically the term ‘Brazilian Waxing’ refers to partial genital hair removal, often leaving a strip of hair, whereas ‘Hollywood Waxing’ refers to total genital hair removal. The term ‘Brazilian Waxing’ is used on this page to refer to either total or partial genital hair removal. In other words, a Brazilian bikini wax removes the hair from the entire pubic region, except for a small patch just above the vaginal area. Many women request a Brazilian wax because it gives a clean, close wax and the freedom to wear even the most revealing swimwear and lingerie.
The genital hair removal includes hair removal around the anus, perineum and vagina. Many have all the hair removed. Some prefer to leave a tiny strip of closely shorn hair in the front. Then that skin is completely stretched out, there’s no crease. A traditional Brazilian wax includes the labia and the area that reaches into the buttocks. If there are stray hairs after waxing, the technician may also tweeze the area.
The key to allowing wax to penetrate into the follicles (and provide the closest possible wax) is to relax. And many women claim the treatment is not nearly as painful as it sounds.
