Advantages of green vegetables

Nowadays the quality of the food we are having is getting worst day by day as well as the quantity of the vegetables in our daily meal is decreasing. Today most of the people especially children prefer to eat the junk food. Children are small and they are not aware of the problems related with the junk food. It is the responsibility of the elders to make the children aware of the problems they can have because of the excessive intake of the junk food. It is very important to avoid eating outside and try to make the habit of eating more vegetables.

All of the vegetables are good to eat but it would be nice if you increase the usage of green vegetables in your meal. Green vegetables fulfill all the requirements of our body such calcium, potassium, vitamin, fiber, folic acid etc.

Calcium
Calcium is very important nutrient for our body as it is very important for our bones. There are many vegetables which are rich in calcium. Such as Collard green and spinach, both of these vegetables have maximum amount of calcium i.e. near about 250 mg. There are many other vegetables that are having good amount of calcium. Zucchini contain 23 mg, snow peas contain 67 mg, kale contain 94 mg, raw cucumber contain 17 mg, broccoli contain 62 mg, asparagus contain 41 mg, Brussels sprouts contain 56 mg, cabbage contain 46 mg, green beans contain 55 mg of calcium. So it would be healthy to have these vegetables.

Folic acid
Folic acid is another important nutrient. It is very important to keep us healthy.

Following are some of the vegetables rich in folic acid.

Collard green contains 177 micrograms, snow peas contain 46 mcg, kale 17 mcg, broccoli contains 168 mcg, Brussels sprouts contain 94 mcg, and green beans contain 41 mcg of folic acid.

Fiber, potassium and vitamin c

Fiber is very important for our body as it is helpful in controlling the cholesterol level of our body.  Potassium is important as it is helpful in repairing muscles also one more importance of potassium is that it prevent the chances of cancer.  The importance of vitamin c is that it increases the immunity and resistance power of the body. Collard greens contain 5 grams of fiber. 220 mg of potassium and 35 mg of vitamin c
Broccoli contains 5 grams of fiber, 457 mg of potassium and 101 mg of vitamin c.
