Advantages of being vegetarian

Health is very important for everyone and when it comes to health no one wants to compromise with diet. Diet mainly consists of two kinds of food; vegetarian and non vegetarian. Today, people are giving much priority to food which is of vegetarian nature. This is because of various reasons.
The concept of vegetarianism:
The concept of Vegetarianism is considered to be evolved from ancient times when various well known personalities like Pythagoras and M.K. Gandhi tried to abolish the ruthless killing of animals for the mere consumption. The main reason behind this protest was the promotion of moral beliefs in human beings but now people are turning towards vegetarianism not only due to moral concepts but also due to the awareness regarding the health related problems. However, there are many people who promote vegetarianism for the ethical treatment of animals and many abolish having meat due to their spiritual beliefs. People who shun eating meat are mainly the followers of Jainism and Buddhism who follow the principles of their god and give precedence to the concepts of truth and non violence. Rather, going for fresh fruits and vegetables promotes calmness and purity of mind.
Health issues:
When it comes to health related issues, several people believe that a vegetarian diet fails to provide essential nutrients which one can get from a non vegetarian diet especially proteins. But the research done by the scientists have never supported this statement and it proves the fact that one can get all the essential requirements of the body from a vegetarian diet as well. A vegetarian diet mainly comprises of fresh fruits and vegetables, pulses, grains, dairy products, nuts, etc.
Some of the recent researches have proved that having meat can lead to several heart related problems because of accumulation of high amount of fat and protein. If a person adopts vegetarian diet then he/she is less prone to such kind of diseases and can lead a healthy and disease free life. Benefits of vegetarianism is not limited to this only, a vegetarian diet not only prevents the additional chances of heart attack but can also prevent other deadly diseases including cancer.
Major concern:
Today, world is facing a severe shortage of food; this is mainly due to the reason that much of the corn crops are fed to cattle for getting enough amount of flesh from them and if people will give more precedence to vegetarian diet then corn crops will not be given much to cattle and it can help in eradicating the problem of hunger.
Thus, benefits of vegetarianism not only have positive impact upon the body but also on the surrounding environment and going for vegetarian diet can alter many of the undesirable things.
