Different types of acne treatments are available to those who want to get rid of acne. There are many different types of acne treatment, with some not harming your skin to some that will leave scars on your skin. A price for acne treatment depends on the type of treatment wanted. Treatments can be anywhere from simple non-drying lotions to surgery, so plan according to the amount needed to be spent for acne treatments
One form of acne treatment is using acne lotions to dry up the skin and kill bacteria. Acne lotions can be helpful for very mild acne and if the acne does not respond to these treatments, you may need to consult a physician or a dermatologist for recommendations on how to treat the type of acne you have and/or to get a stronger prescription lotion.
Antibiotics are also good for treating moderate to severe acne, which reduces bacteria and fight inflammation. The most common form of antibiotics taken for acne is prescription oral antibiotics, which in some cases, depending on the level of acne you have, is needed to be taken for several months.
For acne treatments of deep cysts, Isotretinoin, or Acutance, is a prescription medicine available for those who suffer from cystic acne or acne that does not respond to other treatments. Acutance is very effective in treating acne, but due to the severe side effects the medicine causes, it is only reserved for the most severe forms of acne and must be monitored by a dermatologist.
Oral contraceptives are another form of acne treatment and works when being used with a combo of Ortho-Cyclen and Ortho Tri-Cyclen, have been shown to improve acne in women. Also, oral contraceptives have been known to cause other side effects in women, which may require the attention of a doctor.
Laser and light therapy is another way if treating acne, but may cost more than the others. Laser and light therapy works by removing the deeper layers of the skin without harming the skins surface and laser surgery has been known to damage the oil glands in the skin, causing them to produce less oil.
Cosmetic procedures are also another form of acne treatment, which works by having the dead skin surgically removed without damaging as much live tissue as possible, but the procedure does leave minor scarring on top of the skin.
