7 Ways to Beat a Panic Attack
Everybody experiences stress and anxiety at some point in his or her life. But there are some people, which live in constant fear and anxiety. This is a serious problem.
Such anxiety is a mental disorder that has been derived from greater problems such as fear, feelings of being under extreme pressure, experiencing extreme feelings, or a combination of all of these causes.
If you are one of the many people who suffer from panic and anxiety attacks, here are seven ways to stop an attack either before it starts or as it is happening.
Knowledge is power. Now that you know you suffer from panic and anxiety attacks, find all the books and articles that you can on the illness to keep yourself well informed.
Don’t be afraid to get help. Seek out a counselor or therapist that specializes in this illness. As you speak to the therapist, they will be able to help you uncover the reason why you are having these attacks. The causes could be linked to another illness.
Learn to relax. Relaxation and deep breathing exercises can help keep you calm to prevent another panic attack. Also, when you are having a panic attack, forcing yourself to focus on your breathing techniques can help stop the attack. Find yourself a CD of relaxing music, inspirational words, or helpful advice to overcome a panic attack.
Exercise is good for the body and mind. When you exercise, your brain releases pheromones, which are “feel good” hormones.
Give God a chance. If you feel a panic attack coming on, say a prayer to God to help you survive it. You may also find peace in some of his biblical sayings.
Research the nature of your panic attacks. Get a piece of paper out and make a timeline of when you had your first panic attack. List the events that were going on in your life at the time.
You may have had to relocate. Or maybe you went through a painful personal experience such as a death in the family or divorce. Doing this will enable you to identify the triggers of your panic feelings.
Put your faith in God. God is the number one healer.
