First dates are exciting but it also drives you crazy a bit. You are clueless about what to wear and can not decide what to talk about. Have no fear, dating tips are here.
Wear a nice dress — something you look nice in. Do not wear something too tight or that shows too much of skin. Because there is a possibility that might send out a wrong signal, or the guy might have a wrong impression about you. First get to know him better, then wear what you feel like.
You have to be in your best behavior. But at the same time, do not be too nice. Be polite but know your limits as well.
You might think that going to a movie for the first date is a good idea, but actually it is not. It will only take up too much of your time, and you will hardly have any time to speak and get to know your date. Meeting for coffee is a much better option.
Whether it is lunch or dinner, offer to pay the bill. If he is persistent and wants to pay the bill himself then pay your share. This is a good etiquette that will take you a long way. But if it is coffee then let him pay the bill.
Do not act someone you are not, and obviously do not act dumb. If he is afraid of your intelligence, then you are way better off without him. Do not pretend.
Be a good listener and listen to what he says. By doing so you will be able to get to know about his views, tastes, likes and dislikes. But that does not mean that you have to be an open book. Leave something for the future.
First dates are all about sweet talks, so do not get carried away, and start dreaming about a future together. Take it slow.
Getting drunk is a big no. That does not mean that you can not drink on the first date. Know your limits.
Make sure you tell your friends and family about your date — where you are going and with whom. In that way, in case of an emergency you can reach your friends and family and they can reach you.
While saying goodbye, just stick to a simple handshake. Do not offer a kiss or a hug. If he does try to kiss you, tell him to save it for the next date, and tell him that politely.
