It is a great assert to the doctor. It is said that tongue is a radiograph of stomach or more precisely whole abdomen. It has also been mentioned in ayurvedic texts that tongue is a mirror of abdomen. It lies next to pulse diagnosis in ayurveda in importance. The examination of tongue is conducted for two main reasons. One is to find out the condition of sense of taste and the other the general condition of the surface of the tongue. Belo are the few important diagnostic points that are indicated by tongue.

Vata dominance signals:

• Cold tongue
• Rough surface
• Cracks on the surface
• Tremors in tongue may also signify vitiated vata.
• Tongue is too dry
• Blackish or grayish fur coating on tongue
