How to make Virgin Pinacolada

pinacolada Summer is the time when you need to refresh yourself the most with cool drinks. Fluid intake in summers needs to be increased because in summers, our body loses a lot of moisture through sweating. These lost salts and electrolytes need to be replenished fast, otherwise there is a danger of dehydration.

Pinacolada is an excellent cooler. It is a perfect drink to serve at parties too. When you are planning a party, whipping up this drink will be a great hit with your guests. Here’s how you can go about making Pinacolada at home.

As the name suggests, the base of this drink is pineapple. You can either make it from fresh pineapple juice, or use readymade pineapple juice as the base. To make this drink recipe you need half a liter of pineapple juice. Three cups (or about 100 gm) of plain vanilla ice-cream. You will also need half a liter of a lime-based soft drink, like Sprite or 7-up.

Make sure whatever lime-based soft drink you are using, it is clear. Drinks like Mountain Dew, which have a strong artificial coloring do not go well for making this drink. The reason is that Pinacolada is a white, frothy drink and in any other color, it won’t appear as appealing.

You can even make pineapple juice from fresh pineapples. Clean a pineapple well, remove all thorns, and cut into bite sized pieces. Blend with sugar and water. Sieve this drink through a strainer to get it is a pure liquid form. Now, use this juice as a base. In a blender, mix pineapple juice, vanilla ice-cream and the lemon soft drink. Blend well.

Put into the deep freezer for half an hour. Before serving, blend once again. Serve in a tall glass. Cut a slice of pineapple and put this wedge on the edge of the glass before serving. Serve chilled.
