It’s a common myth that you can only create a great batch of vanilla fudge if you are a professional confectioner. In reality however, it is much easier to make this fudge than you’d think. Just follow the step by step instructions given below, and you’ll see just how easily you can whip up your favorite treat any time.
The ingredients that you’ll need to make homemade vanilla fudge include 2 cups of sugar, 1 tablespoon of vanilla, 2/3 cups of evaporated milk, 1/4 cup of butter, 1/3 cup of milk, 1/8 teaspoon of salt, and walnut pieces (optional).
Step 1: Grease the sides of a heavy 2 quart saucepan with butter or cooking oil.
Step 2: Take sugar, milks and salt in the saucepan, and mix well.
Step 3: Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the milk mixture to a boil. Keep stirring while cooking.
Step 4: Clip on candy thermometer and cook over medium-low heat while stirring. Cook until the temperature reaches 238 degrees F and the mixture attains a soft ball stage.
Step 5: Remove the saucepan from heat. Add butter and vanilla, taking care not to stir.
Step 6: Cool the fudge to 110 degrees F.
Step 7: Remove the thermometer.
