For this recipe, you need about 250 gm (or about 9 ounce) pasta, preferably manicotti or rigatoni. Many health brands coming up with nutritious varieties, it ranks much higher on the health chart.
Two large onions, chopped in thin slices, a pod of garlic, cut into thin slivers, two cups of milk. one tablespoon of pepper corns, coarsely ground, 100 gm butter.
Heat about 750 ml of water in a large vessel. Slowly add pasta and boil for 15 minutes, or till such a time when the pasta become slightly transparent, swollen and come to the surface of water. Do not over boil. You can add a tablespoon of oil while cooking. This will prevent the pasta from sticking together. Alternatively, you can also boil pasta in a pressure cooker for ten minutes. Switch off gas, remove from gas and allow the lid to open. Drain immediately.
In a heavy bottomed pan, heat butter. Once sufficiently hot, add ground pepper. Let it simmer for a while, and then add garlic slivers. Sauté for a while and then add chopped onions. Sauté till pink and well done. Now add drained, boiled pasta. Heat for a while. Add two cups of milk and stir till milk thickens into rich gravy. Add salt, pepper powder and butter to taste. Serve piping hot.
