Green vegetables are a storehouse of important nutrients. They are full of essential minerals and iron. No wonder then, that pediatricians always stress that parents must provide a sufficient amount of green vegetables in the diet of children.
However, children are not the ones to be easily influenced by Popeye.
Even if they are stuck on cartoons, when the matter comes to eating their green vegetables properly, the children suddenly turn into very stubborn brats. They are very fussy and are not willing to try out the vegetables. Parents rue that no amount of coaxing can get them to eat their daily quantity of fresh green vegetables.
Many a mothers often complain that their children persistently deny eating green vegetables. This poses mothers of young children with a lot of worry; because green vegetables play an important role in a good, overall body growth. A sufficient quantity is required for their vitamin and mineral requirements.
Insufficient amounts of these nutritious foods can often lead to eyesight problems, weak bones and other ailments. Children also seem to develop low immunity when they do not consume enough quantity of green leafy vegetables. There are some ways in which you can get your child to eat green vegetables.
You can make healthy spinach sandwiches. For this, blanch about 250 gm of spinach. Allow to cool. In a mixer, put this blanched spinach, a clove of garlic, half a tomato, some salt, 5-6 pepper corns and sugar to taste. Grind to a find paste.
Take two big sandwich slices. Spread this spinach paste liberally on the sandwich. Top it over with a slice of cheese. Cover with another slice and toast for five minutes, or till golden brown. This sandwich tastes delicious. To make it more tempting, you can even add minced chicken to the filling.
