Step 1: Make sure the tattoo remains bandaged for at least 2-3 hours after it is made. Keep the bandage for even longer if advised to.
Step 2: After the stipulated hours, leave the tattoo open so that the tattoo starts healing and the skin keeps breathing.
Step 3: You may wash the tattoo gently with 1-2 drops of mild soap. Pat it dry softly without rubbing.
Step 4: Gently apply antibiotic ointment onto the tattooed area once it’s cleaned. Take care not to any ointment with zinc content because it can damage the tattoo.
Step 5: Gently apply antibiotic ointment on the tattoo everyday for the initial few days. After that, keep applying a plain skin lotion to the tattooed skin until it heals completely. Make sure the lotion does not contain any dye, perfume, alcohol, aloe or Vitamin E.
Step 6: Keep the tattooed skin exposed to air for the most part, but avoid exposing it to the sun for long hours.
Step7: Don’t get too much of water on a new tattoo for the first few weeks. You can take showers, but keep away from swimming.
