Turmeric extracted from the leaves of the Curcuma longa plant which is grown in the South Asian countries is known for its amazing healing and other beneficial properties. Apart from its use in South Asian cuisine, this spice is also known for its use in medicine. It has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiseptic and antibiotic properties.
It has thus been used for treating a range of medical problems including simple cough and cold or complex medical diseases like the Alzheimer disease or leukemia. Turmeric has also been used widely for preventing skin problems like acne and blemishes due to its antioxidant properties. It helps in controlling the problem caused by clogged pores and lightens any skin pigmentation.
Moreover with regular use of turmeric on the face you can soon notice a brighter, glowing skin tone. Its antiseptic properties help in curing small cuts, scratches and minor burns. Turmeric used on skin is also known to fight the signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles. Here is how you can use this amazing natural remedy to get beautiful, glowing skin.
Using Turmeric On Face
Turmeric can be used for making a homemade face mask. The ingredients required for making this facial mask include a tablespoon of turmeric, some milk and honey. For exfoliating your face you can also add some gram flour also known as “besan”.
Making Turmeric Face Mask
To make the turmeric face mask combine a teaspoon of turmeric with four teaspoons of gram flour in a glass bowl. Add a teaspoon of milk and honey to this mixture. Stir the mixture so that it forms a nice thick paste. Do not make it too runny or dry. You can also add some cooling rose water to this face mask. Rose water moisturizes and hydrates the facial skin, while adding a glow to it.
Once you have made the face mask, wash your face and neck with a foaming cleanser to remove traces of makeup and dirt and then use a face scrub to exfoliate your face. Cleansing and exfoliation of the face allows better penetration of the facial mask ingredients. Now apply the turmeric face mask all over your face and neck uniformly. Avoid the sensitive eye area when applying the mask.
Let the mask dry for around twenty to thirty minutes and then use lukewarm water to rinse off the face mask. Use a cotton ball with facial cleansing lotion to remove signs of the turmeric face pack. This is extremely important as the turmeric face mask residue can cause yellow discoloration on your clothes and towels. Once you are done moisturize your face properly.
In addition to this you can also use turmeric paste to cure acne scars and pimples. Just mix some turmeric with rose water and apply it on the pimples and acne scars. Leave it on for some time before washing off with warm water. Before using turmeric on the face, make sure that you check for any allergic reaction. Apply turmeric on a small area of the skin and check for allergies.
